How to deactivate Facebook account
To deactivate your Facebook account temporarily, follow these steps:
On Mobile:
- Open the Facebook app and tap the Menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the bottom-right corner.
- Scroll down and tap Settings & Privacy, then select Settings.
- Under Account, select Access and Control.
- Tap Deactivation and Deletion.
- Choose Deactivate Account (temporary option) and tap Continue to Account Deactivation.
- Follow the on-screen prompts, such as providing a reason (optional), and confirm by tapping Deactivate My Account.
- Your account will be deactivated, but Messenger will remain active if you choose.
On Desktop:
- Log into your Facebook account.
- Click your profile picture in the top-right corner and select Settings & Privacy, then Settings.
- Navigate to Your Facebook Information on the left-hand menu.
- Scroll to Deactivation and Deletion and click View.
- Select Deactivate Account and click Continue to Account Deactivation.
- Complete the steps to confirm.
Reactivation:
To reactivate your account, simply log in with your email and password at any time.
Deactivating your account keeps all your data intact, so you can resume use whenever you like.
